Renu and I have arrived at her family's house in (good luck) Bhubaneswar. They have a beautiful house where her grandparents, aunt and uncle, cousins and their kids all live. In the back there's a spread garden with fruit trees and plants. We'll finally be able to settle a bit with no set plans or travel for 4 days, so there will be plenty more pics from the City of Temples!

Haldiram's and Don 2

Friday was our first full day in India! Ryan, my mom, Ashish bhaina and I got to eat a ton of street food! (The safe way) We went to Haldiram's which serves restaurant quality Indian street food in a buffet/cafeteria style. I think we got one of every single thing on the menu and loved every second. Ashish bhaina explained every dish while Ryan waited in anticipation while jamming to Billy Jean playing in the background. Michael Jackson is still very much alive in India.
Learning how to eat Pani Puri
It's a little tricky

Success!

Ryan found out that he likes the spicier dishes a bit more than the sweet/sour combos, though it was his first time with a lot of the dishes so I'm sure he'll develop some favorites! Then we dropped my mom off at the airport heading for Bhubaneswar and we got the experience of a lifetime on the roads. Let's just say Ryan was pretty wide-eyed! Auto-rikshaws, cows, dogs, honking horns, chaos. One highlight was seeing these Domino delivery motorcycles at one of the large markets!

Also, McDonald's and Subway deliver here; I think we could learn a lot from them ;-)
Later on we went and picked up Priti nani from Think Tank Games and saw where we will be working very soon! It was great to see her in action. As Ryan and I were having an epic battle with our jetlag, we went to see the Hindi movie "Don 2". It was a great action movie with plenty of fight scenes and catch phrases. With a very small amount of translation assistance Ryan and I were able to follow the movie pretty well! We were, however, a bit distracted by the Indian movie going experience. Let's just say that there's no "please turn off your cell phone" announcement haha! Well it's the 31st morning and neither Ryan or I slept for more than a couple hours last night. Hopefully we'll catch up with a little nap before some New Year's Eve partying tonight! Love you all and Happy New Year!
